Buffalo's 1974-75 Season and the Run to the Final
In 1974-75, the Buffalo Sabres were young, fast, and impossible to keep off the scoresheet.
Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin and René Robert, the French Connection, scored 131 goals between them. A rookie named Danny Gare scored eighteen seconds into his first game. The Sabres set a club record with 354 goals, tied for the most points in the league, won the first playoff series in franchise history, and beat Montreal to reach the Final in only their fifth season. Then, on a hot May night at Memorial Auditorium, the fog rolled in.
Fog in the Aud tells the whole season a few games at a time, with the weather, the crowds and the box scores, plus charts drawn from the box scores, fifty trivia questions and an overtime round, and the full season's stats. Narrated by Greg Hartwell, an Amherst insurance adjuster who has never stopped reviewing the claim.
